Sailfishing in K.Rompin is about as straightforward, civilized & uncomplicated as it gets. Slow-trolling with livies is the preferred method employed by Bluesails. Stand-up fishing with a gimbal for Billfish or any large quarry is the norm, providing more sport. Long balloons or elongated balloons rigged with livies are also favoured by our guides as they signal even a light pick-up at greater depth compared to round balloons which are most commonly used. Sometimes current conditions call for free-lining with livies to produce the bite. Procuring the right bait size is key on days when the bite is slow.

Marlin, which are a well sought after billfish globally are no exception here, although they occur rarely & are usually juvies. You need to put in more time to find them, but when you locate the bite the payback is well worth it. Bluesails Sportfishing averages 1 Marlin to about 37 Sails captured. We boat on average 6-10 Sails per weekend, comparable with top Sailfishing destinations such as Costa Rica, Guatemala or Florida Key West, and get by-catches such as Macks, Cudas, Dorados, GTs, Cobias and Queenfish. A Rompin Grand Slam includes Sails & a juve Black Marlin over a single weekend!

When fishing for pelagics you will enjoy the thrill of the hunt out on the water & the excitement of the catch. Beauty, speed & power…the Sailfish has it all and keen anglers & veteran guides alike keep coming back for more. The waters off K. Rompin in the South China Sea are consistently calm, with light winds, & billfishing occurs in close proximity to the lush green mainland often not more than 20 nm (nautical miles) offshore.
